Thanks to Misty Callies and the awesome volunteer crew last Friday for pulling off a wonderfully delicious and multi-course breakfast. Misty made a massive pot of Tinga Poblano: a tomato-y chipotle packed pulled pork and chorizo stew, which she served with individual corn and cheese spoonbread timbales, scrambled eggs, roasted sweet potatoes and a side of hoop greens. Wait! There was dessert too. Warm gingerbread topped with applesauce, apple cider reduction and whipped cream. Yes, it was fabulous. And filling. And totally fun to have cake, because it was my birthday weekend, and I love cake for my birthday.
Thanks to everyone who came by to visit Selma Cafe, eat some delicious food, support the local food economy, and share some birthday love with me. Thanks to Eric from the Ann Arbor Seed Co. for coming by and showing us what he is creating. Thanks to Brian Truskowski for bringing his massage chair and the extra long complimentary shoulder rub. Thanks to all the volunteers who showed up at 6am, 8am and 10am to make the magic happen with hard work and generous energy to share, especially Dan Vernia our fantastic expo and Salomon Jost our host. Extra special thanks to the clean up crew, headed by Michelle Fortin, who left my house clean and organized. It’s easy to keep Selma Cafe up and running with such good folks on board.
I hope to see you in the kitchen soon, and in the meantime, stay cozy and remember good food equals love, at least in my home.

Do you by chance have Misty Callies email or phone number? I’m trying to get in contact with her because I need a professional mentor for my senior project.
