Tammy Coxen from Tammy’s Tastings: Banh Mi Sammies

Thanks to Tammy Coxen of Tammy’s Tastings for bringing a taste of Vietnam to our kitchen using local ingredients. Banh Mi Four Ways was the special of the day. Full on, starting with a Zingerman’s Bakehouse sliced baguette, smeared with house made spicy mayo and stuffed with a Schwartz Farm fried egg, Bier Camp smoky sliced ham, pickled daikon radish and carrots, cilantro and cucumbers all from the Ann Arbor Farmer’s Market farmers, served with a side of salad mix from Seeley Farm. Gluten free? No worries. Tammy rolled all that deliciousness into a huge lettuce leaf. Vegetarian? We had you covered. Lose the ham, add marinated and baked tofu. Vegan? Sure, no prob. Tofu and all those tasty veggies stuffed into a lettuce leaf. Four ways serving Banh Mi and everyone was happy.

Thanks also to our volunteers who prepared the food on Thursday evening, and served and cleaned up Friday morning. We could sure use some more volunteers for the clean up crew from 10a-12p. Come work the clean up shift and you get breakfast on the house-that goes for any of the Friday shifts. Volunteer with us on the top of the home page please!

The Old West Side Home Tour is this Sunday, and Selma Cafe is honored to be on the tour this year. Come on by for a complementary cup of Roos Roast coffee and say hi.

Until next time enjoy our beautiful autumn here in the mitten, and I look forward to seeing you in my kitchen soon,

~Lisa
